Miss Independent

Juggling is at an entirely new level with Amelie telling me what she wants to do, wear and eat. My little Miss Independent at the fine age of 21 months... what have we got to come?!?

We've managed to avoid reins up until now, Amelie has either happily stayed in the buggy or held our hand and I've looked on as that proud mother. Her new found independence has meant us dashing after her to avoid major injury or being lost in a crowd, leaving us red faced and extremely sweaty. The best example was when she sprinted off and then quickly haulted in front of a sparkly pink embellished top of Minnie Mouse, 'This one Mummy!' She may know what she wants but it doesn't mean she'll get it!

We have just had a trip to Italy so I dashed to the shops to purchase a set of Skip Hop reins. Three shops later we found the owl bag, the only one Amelie was prepared to consider wearing! I personally am happy with her choice and think the little owl backpack is super cute, grateful of its tasteful colours and stylish design.

It is taking a little time to get used to the reins, I feel like I'm walking Amelie and she is less than impressed with the new restriction on her expeditions. Although they did seem to work  as we didn't  lose  her in the middle of Gatwick airport and we all made it onto the plane!

Gone are the days of grabbing a few clothes, bag and passport excitedly getting to the airport early to purchase a duty free bargain. There is a lot of prep involved when travelling with a toddler...
