Making Memories

So recently we got to zoom around on a golf buggie, sleep in a treehouse, sip prosecco and even feed giraffes. To say our trip to Port Lympne Reserve was epic is an understatement.

From the moment we arrived it felt a little bit special. We were greeted by the brilliant team who showed us to our private golf buggie which we had for our entire stay, which gave us full range to investigate the reserve even after hours. We felt rather lucky considering other visitors of the reserve had to tackle rather steep hills at times. Having the golf buggie was also a huge plus with a toddler, there was no need to drag around a pushchair which Amelie would have no doubt refused to use and we would have found ourselves constantly picking her up as her little legs currently find it impossible to walk more then ten steps without complaint.

After visiting some of the animals we retired to our Treehouse. Whilst we waited in the clubhouse next to Sammy the Rhino to check in we enjoyed a welcome glass of bubbles and Amelie filled her boots on toasting marshmallows.

We climb a rather large amount of steps to get to the top where we found our very luxurious Treehouse. Utterly stunning decor, gorgeous view and it was brilliantly equipped making it feel like a home from home. Amelie did what we all wanted to do by running around in laps of victory, it did feel like we had hit the jackpot!

We finished our evening by enjoying a delicious three course meal at Baby Dolls. The restaurant is next to the cheetahs who certainly provided an evening full of family  entertainment. It was the perfect atmosphere for families, stylish but relaxed. All feeling content and full we returned to our Treehouse for the night.

We woke to a breathtaking view and Sammy the Rhino wishing us good morning whilst we enjoyed our breakfast hamper. It was pretty difficult to say goodbye to our Treehouse and buggie, we certainly wished we had booked for longer.

Our final adventure on this stay was a private safari of the reserve. Our guide and driver Jack introduced us to all the animals knowing each of them by name. We learnt lots along the way and fell in love with the work they do, it's terrifying how many animals are endangered and how much work Port Lympe Park are doing in order to combat this.

We were very lucky as the giraffes took the bate and came over to our truck to enjoy the luscious branches we had on offer. I was blown away by their beauty and elegance. It felt like a really special moment we will all cherish together as a family.

We want to do it all again!! Who needs Africa when you can go on a safari in Kent!!
